Out and About
The Snug is ideally situated just 12 miles from Portree with its shops, restaurants and attractions. Dunvegan is 10 miles away with its historic castle and village and it’s 19 miles to Uig which has the ferry terminal to the Outer Hebrides. Carry on up the winding hill from Uig to the Quiraing for some of the most breath taking views on the island and also a number of spectacular walks.
There are a number of fine eateries to suit everyone’s taste, just 2 miles away is the Edinbane Inn with its fantastic food, local beers and ceilidh’s. We are 11 miles from Loch Bay Restaurant, which is in the beautiful coastal village of Stein Waternish, also here is the Stein Inn the oldest pub on Skye. In Dunvegan you will find The Old School Restaurant and a little bit further on in Colbost is the world famous Three Chimneys.
Nearby there are a number of forest and coastal walks that offer some stunning views of Loch Greshornish. For an exhilerating walk with amazing views and a chance to see minky whales, basking sharks and dolphins, Neist Point Lighthouse is a must. Make sure you take your camera! Niest Point is also an excellent fishing spot.
A little bit further afield is Coral Beach near Dunvegan and Glenbrittle beach at the edge of the mighty Cuillin Mountains.
For something slightly more relaxing visit Skye Skyns in Waternish, the only tannery left in Scotland and maybe take home a sheepskin rug as a souvenir. Next door to Skye Skyns is Brae Fasach Gallery where you can see Ian and Gill Williams' artwork and get a great coffee and a freshly baked cake.
We are on the main bus route and the bus stops at the end of our drive.
